The World of Work Inventory (WOWI) is a comprehensive career assessment instrument, which has been carefully constructed to help a client learn the most about him or herself in relation to the wide variety of occupations available.
The WOWI does this by combining information about a client’s:
- Subjectively selected educational and occupational choices
- Objectively assessed preferences for particular job duties
- Aptitudes and achievement in various areas
- Preferences for particular qualities of the work environment
The WOWI provides a personalized profile for each of your clients. You also receive a listing of occupations most suitable to your clients' unique combination of personalities, interests and skills.
WOWI Assumptions
WOWI was developed to improve upon the existing career assessments. A test was needed that tapped into the multidimensional aspect of people. Using this approach, the WOWI is based on the following assumptions:
- Just because someone likes something does not mean she or he is good at it.
- Just because someone is good at something does not mean that she or he will
like doing it. - Just because someone likes something and is good at it does not mean
she or he has the appropriate “work-style” or temperament for doing it.
With these assumptions in mind, the WOWI was developed to include three distinct, yet integrated, measures: interests, skills and aptitudes and work styles.
